Frequently Asked Questions

Is it more expensive to go with EBI rather than going directly to an insurance company?

Actually, no. Working with EBI costs you nothing. Most often, we can offer lower prices than buying directly from large insurance providers. Plus, you get the added value of EBI’s personal relationship. You are always free to call or stop by our office anytime you have any questions or concerns.

Is there an application fee when applying for insurance?

No. EBI does not charge additional fees for requesting an insurance quote or submitting and application for insurance. When you apply for insurance you may be required to pay your first month’s premium, but there is no additional application fee.

How long will it take to be covered after I apply for an insurance plan?

During the application process, EBI will work for you to ensure you are covered in the shortest time possible. The only reason for a significant delay is if the insurance carrier requires further information about something listed on your application. However, even in this situation, it should take no longer than 2-4 weeks for the carrier to request and receive medical records from your previous doctors.

What qualifies as a pre-existing condition and can it keep me from obtaining health insurance?

A pre-existing condition is any health condition you currently have or have had prior to applying for an insurance policy. Many insurance providers are interested only in pre-existing conditions dating back about 10 years. In rare and severe situations, insurance providers may only issue a plan with a disclaimer that says your plan is good for everything EXCEPT your pre-existing condition. At EBI, we will do everything we can to find an insurance policy that is conducive to your individual situation.

What is the difference between a co-pay and a deductible?

Your co-pay is an identified flat fee you will pay for each medical service, such as $20 for an office visit. Your insurance company will then pay the remainder of the covered medical charges.

A deductible is the amount of money you are required to pay every year before your health insurance plan begins to pay for covered medical expenses. The required amounts for both your co-pay and your deductible vary with different plans. EBI will make sure you are comfortable with both before we match you with an insurance plan.

What is a premium?

A premium is a fancy name for the amount of money you will pay in exchange for health coverage.

I am not sure if I should apply for an HMO or a PPO, can you help?

Choosing which is right for you is very important and our clients usually have a difficult time making this decision on their own. Please feel free to call or come into our office and we would be glad to assess your individual situation and make a recommendation as to which will better meet your needs.

I am hearing that the government is aiming to reform national health care. How are changes in the government likely to affect my insurance plan?

It is impossible to know which direction the government will take in reforming the nation’s health care system. However, our team is committed to staying current on any changes and how they might affect our clients and their coverage.

Do you offer anything besides individual health insurance?

EBI offers a wide variety of insurance plans, too extensive to list here. If you are interested in learning about group health insurance, group life insurance, short-term disability insurance, dental insurance, long-term disability insurance, vision insurance or any other insurance plan, please feel free to contact us and we would be pleased to answer all of your questions.

I’m looking for Employers Insurance Group, is EBI affiliated with them?

No we are not. Employers Insurance Group is a group of companies providing workers’ compensation and other services to small businesses. If you are trying to reach them, call 1-888-682-6671.

How can I get more information about a specific product or plan that I am interested in?

The EBI team is always available to address any questions or concerns you may have. The easiest ways to reach us are by phone at 775-786-6381 or by email at info@ebi-nv.com.
